How long will it take for my dress to come in?
Delivery dates vary from one manufacturer to another. Rule of thumb is 8 to 12 weeks for bridesmaids and mothers dresses and 3 to 6 months for wedding gowns. These dates are never firm, however, as some styles are in stock and can be shipped quickly. Conversely, manufacturers sometimes encounter delays in production. The Town Shop's commitment to you, our customer, IS firm. We stand behind our 100% delivery record!
Are alterations included in the price?
Pressing and storage are included with our bridesmaids dresses, and all alterations (with the exception of bustles) are included with our regular priced bridal gowns. In the event that alterations are needed on any other dress, you can be assured that only fair and reasonable charges will be applied. Our professional full-time alterations department is staffed by the most experienced and talented seamstresses in the tri-state area.
When should I come in for my fitting?
As soon as you receive a call that your dress has arrived you should plan to stop in for a "check fit". You do not need to make an appointment for this. Closer to the wedding date, however, an appointment should be made for a fitting with the seamstress. Brides should plan to come in anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks prior to the wedding for their first fitting. All other dresses should be fitted 2 to 4 weeks prior to the event. If weight loss/gain is an issue, then a fitting closer to the wear-date may be necessary.
Are all dresses true-to-size?
Sizes vary from one dress manufacturer to another. Please do not be offended if the size ordered is not your "true" size. Our time-tested experience with different manufacturers gives us all the confidence we need to ensure that the appropriate size will be delivered.
What should I bring to my fitting?
Good question! In order to be fitted properly, you will have to decide on undergarments and shoes before you come in. It's important to have your bra picked out ahead of time as well as knowing the heel height of the shoes you will be wearing. If not, the appointment may have to be rescheduled upon arrival.
What payment is due and when?
As is customary in this industry, we require a 50% deposit for all special orders. We will call you when your dress comes in and at that time you are welcome to arrange a check fitting and pay the balance.
